One of the most beautiful sailing ships of the Ponant Ligure is the brig-goélette known as scuna, an Italianization of the English schooner. These vessels sailed many seas, carrying all kinds of goods. Many doubled the Strait of Gibraltar to take part in oceanic traffic with the West Indies, La Plata (Argentina) and in Europe with Portugal and England.

The scuna featured in this book is one of the last wooden-hulled ships built in the Ligurian shipyards. It was also one of the largest, with a capacity of 350 tons. Her distinctive feature is a round stern. Her rigging consists of two masts, the foremast carrying a foresail, a topsail, a flying topsail, a parrot and a cockapoo. The mainmast carries a brigantine topped by an arrow.

This addition to the original monograph, published in 2006, details the scuna's entire frame and fittings, making it possible to build an arsenal model. It includes a step-by-step construction guide illustrated with 350 photos.

Plans are available in 1/50 and 1/36 scale.
