We bring you a book dedicated to the study of the French Royal Navy uniforms during the 17th and 18th century. It is a rich subject which we wanted to present in all its vastness. This very important work is solely based on archival sources; both written and iconographic.
Every Navy Corp is the subject of a separate chapter following a chronological order. The introduction of each chapter depicts the history of the particular Navy Corp studied, followed by the transcript of the appropriate archival sources; including pictorial reproductions from the time period. We have included a total of 51 plates and commentary representing 230 figures. The book ends with a study of the armament, the equipment; all of which required some one hundred sketches and drawings, as well as the reproduction of a number of collection pieces.
Through this work, we wish to introduce readers to an over-all view of this exceptional subject.

Full binding, sewn sections, royal navy blue cover with gold gilded headband and French Royal Arms.
